You will however have to meet the training requirements set out by the school to get accepted. The requirements are similar in all states. Here is an example of what you could expect to be required to fulfill:

  • Being at least 18 years old
  • Finished High school
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Possess a certification in EMT-basic level
  • Fulfill all lower level EMT requirements
  • Possess a CPR certification card

The state of California uses the NREMT exam to certify and license its EMTs and Paramedics. You will have to pass both the written and practical exam in order to practice in the state. You will then have to fill out and submit an EMT application form to the EMS offices in California.
